Are you traveling to the Tromsø area? Do you plan on experiencing the magnificent aurora borealis? Book a unique and unforgettable PRIVATE TOUR with me!
Want to get out of the crowded places and really learn about the aurora? I offer a 6-hour, PRIVATE and self-driven aurora chasing tour in the Troms area for people who have their own means of transportation (rental car, van or bus). This tour is made for those who want a privatized, flexible and higher quality experience. I accept any group with a minimum of 2 people. I will determine and communicate an itinerary based on weather and aurora activity from 24 hours prior to the tour (*1).
How it works:
After agreeing on the location and route, customers either meet me on-location or at a specific meeting point. At the spot(s), I will show you the ways of the aurora based on my 15 years of knowledge and experience. It includes reading the sky, understanding how the aurora is created, reading and monitoring forecasting tools, aurora chasing etiquette, capturing the aurora in pictures and film... This experience is specifically tailored for those who have their rental car and who don't know how to find clear skies/ aurora and who want to learn how to chase on their own at a future time, and/or who have a special private request (proposal...). Professional photos / portraits (and film when possible) are included in the price. (*2) I will provide warm drinks and light snacks. (*3)
Why choose me over other tours?
I have been chasing the aurora for over 15 years now in many different countries. I stand as the guide instructor for the Tromsø Guide Association (TGF) and I have been teaching aurora science and chasing to more than 2000 guides in person or online. I have spent countless hours in the field studying how the aurora behaves and I have even built my own unique aurora chasing application called norlys. I know northern Norwegian roads like the back of my hand and I also know how to navigate the tricky weather. Needless to say, you are in good hands! My tours are unique because they are completely private and 100% dedicated to your group. I will not only take you to quieter places, I will tailor our tour around the aurora activity (which too few other tours operators do) and more specifically, I will teach you how to chase the aurora on your own. So if you are in the Troms region for a few days, book one of my early to learn and go on your own adventure in the following days. I often keep contact with my customers in the following days to help them as well, free of charge! In other words, you not only get an unforgettable experience with me but you also gain the knowledge and skills for later. It's actually several tours for the price of one!
What is included?
✅ Completely privatized tour
✅ Tailored communication prior to the tour (email, messages, whatsapp): preparations, clothing, driving, etc...
✅ Thorough communication during the tour
✅ Advanced education about aurora science and chasing
✅ Practical and theoretical course on how to take your own aurora pictures (tripods can be borrowed if needed)
✅ Tailored arrangement (proposal, photoshoot...) upon request
✅ Light snacks and hot beverages (tea, coffee, hot chocolate)
✅ Professional photos (portraits, tour photos) and videos (when possible) delivered in high quality the next day
❌ Transportation (you need your own car)

TERMS, CONDITIONS & TIPS
PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING: By purchasing/booking this service, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
(*1) The service starts when the attendees and Adrien meet at the location convened upon prior to the commencement. It means that neither Adrien or NIGHT LIGHTS FILMS are responsible / liable for any incident or accident involving the attendees and their belongings up to the beginning of the workshop, or after it ends. It also excludes Adrien or Night Light Films from any liability arising concerning the customers transport and taxi law enforced in Norway.
PARTICIPANTS MUST TRAVEL TO THE LOCATION(S) IN THEIR OWN MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, for which they are solely responsible. The attendees will be given the exact meeting location and time and must ensure to travel there safely, in good time, and to respect the Norwegian driving regulations on the road. Roads may be slippery, wet, icy, so please ensure you allow enough time in case of unfavorable weather. Don't worry though, you will be in communication with Adrien (via whatsapp or email) and he will provide you with road advice and safety. Please check www.175.no for traffic conditions. Please refer to Adrien in case of uncertainties, incident or emergency.
It is highly recommended NOT to rent out a fully electric car due to the high probability of long drives (>4 hours return trip), and the lack of charging station around the tour locations. Having an electric car may result in you not being able to see the aurora during the tour because of charging issues. It is also recommended NOT to book Adrien's tour on the night of arrival in the Troms region, as Adrien's tour can begin as soon as it gets dark (sometimes 3 or 4 pm), and often guests are not able to check into their accommodation, eat and drive to location in time.
(*2) During the workshop: Adrien and NIGHT LIGHTS FILMS decline any responsibility or liability concerning the attendees' photographic gear or belongings. Safety rules will be established at the beginning of the workshop and the attendees must follow them. The shooting conditions will also be explained prior to shooting, and perhaps the conditions of the path taken to the final location. It is the attendees' own responsibility to prepare adequately (clothing, food, fluids, gear...) for this. Please ask Adrien before coming to the workshop and have him explain what conditions will be met (weather, terrain...). Should an emergency occur during the workshop, Adrien will contact the local authorities and let them take over, while following up on the situation. Any cost arisen by any health and emergency situations shall be borne exclusively by the attendees (make sure to have a travel insurance).
(*3) Warm clothing / coveralls are not provided. It is the customer's sole responsibility to bring adequate clothing. Adrien may advise you on this matter prior to the workshop upon request. Adrien will take professional photos, portraits timelapses (when possible) and real-time film (when possible). Those are included in the price and will be sent to you via a Google drive folder the day after the tour.
(*4) Cancellation possible up to 24 hours before the service. There is non-refundable 500 NOK deposit per person upon booking. The deposit is non-refundable in case of cancellation. The rest will be payed in person via a portable card terminal brought when customers meet up on location (all major cards + electronic paying apps accepted).
(*5) The discount will be applied upon paying the rest of the amount in person prior to the tour, on location.
The starting time of 06:00 PM (18:00) is generic for the aurora season in Troms. It can change on short notice, especially from late October to early March. Please remain flexible on the day of the tour and make sure not to plan other activities in the afternoon that day. See with Adrien on Whatsapp!

Reviews & testimonials
Our private Northern Lights tour with Adrien was truly an incredible and overwhelming emotion. Adrien is extremely experienced and explained the entire formation process of the aurora in such a detailed and engaging way. We went out to search for it together, and watching it appear and then explode right above us was absolutely magical. We did not realize that behind the aurora there is a physical process that constantly evolves and changes, and understanding what was happening in the sky above us made the experience so much deeper and more powerful. He has been doing this work for many years, and yet it was beautiful to see how genuinely passionate he still is. That passion, combined with his knowledge and experience, made the entire tour unforgettable. We will carry this experience with us forever, together with the beautiful photos and videos he captured for us. Thank you, Adrien. It was pure magic 🥹✨ Karen C. (March 2026) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
Above and beyond! We're only 3.5 days into our stay and I have never had hospitality of this level. Both Yacopo and Adrien have been fantastic hosts and are very generous with their individual crafts. Yacapo is amazing chef and we have been blown away with the dinner menu items we have selected at such a reasonable cost, a must try if staying here, seriously. Adrien, well, is in a class if his own when it comes to chasing the aurora and the science behind it. When you stay here, Adrien will send aurora alerts and you can just pop outside and look up. The house has a breathtaking view that grounds you in every way. This place has everything you need to feel comfortable and safe. It's a special spot, reminding us to slow down and look up. We recently had the absolute pleasure of joining Adrian from Night Films Photography on a Northern Lights tour near Tromsø, and we can't recommend him enough. Unlike the big bus tours that stick to more crowded, touristy spots, Adrian takes you off the beaten path to the most remote and secret viewing locations. This means you get the best possible view of the Aurora without any light pollution or human distractions. Adrian is a fantastic guide and a talented photographer, so whether you're into photography or just there for the experience, he's got you covered. We had an amazing time, and Adrian made the whole evening special with his friendly and knowledgeable approach. If you're looking for a truly unique Northern Lights experience, this is the tour to book. Thanks again, Adrian! Eitan (September 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
We had a Northern Lights trip with Adrien earlier this week. It is difficult not to repeat all the previous positive reviews.............but I will. Adrien's expertise and quiet confidence meant I was never in doubt that we would witness what we had travelled so far to see. The weather at our vacation location was grim but Adrien assured us that if we were happy to drive over the border to Finland the skies would clear. As we drove through mist and rain we looked hopefully toward the horizon.......and soon after crossing the border the clouds melted away to reveal the start of an amazing Aurora show at the location that Adrien had chosen. The weather here is notoriously unpredicatable and Adrien's local knowledge was invaluable. Whilst we watched and tried to photograph the lights Adrien explained his passion for the Aurora and described how it all happens plus the tricky "dark art" of Aurora prediction. He is undoubtably "The Master". Richard (September 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
We had a phenomenal experience with Adrien! As complete beginners, we walked away with stunning Aurora and Milky Way shots and a solid grasp of the photography triangle, using tripods, timing, and locations. Adrien is patient, passionate, and makes learning fun-plus, he even had hot chocolate ready while we froze under the stars. 🌌🤍 Highly recommend him to anyone wanting to turn their dream of night-sky photography into reality! His passion & knowledge of photography are contagious & truly admirable. Priyadarshini (September 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
A magical experience with Adrien, specialist in the Northern Lights I had the chance to experience an unforgettable evening with Adrien, a true enthusiast of nature and the Northern Lights. His in-depth knowledge and boundless passion made this experience even more extraordinary. Thanks to him, I learned a lot about this fascinating phenomenon, which allowed me to better understand the magic behind these dancing lights. The Northern Lights show was absolutely incredible, a dazzling display of the power and beauty of nature. Adrien was able to share his wonder with us, making this evening not only educational but also deeply moving. I 100% recommend this experience to anyone who wants to discover the Northern Lights in a magical setting, while being guided by a true enthusiast. Thank you again, Adrien, for this unique moment that I will never forget! I'll come back, that's for sure. Maur'uuru roa. Adeline (March 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
We were in Tromsoe because we needed northern lights for a movie. There were also a few specifications regarding the landscape. I can only say that Adrian was incredibly competent and helpful and, with his extensive knowledge, provided us with what we needed within three days and exactly what he predicted. His very courteous, focused manner and positive nature made these three nights more than rewarding for the whole team. I can unreservedly recommend Adrian to everyone. Gabriele (February 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
It was a great experience watching the northern lights with Adrien. We hadn't had a good day, but he was still able to use his data to show us exactly how the northern lights are formed, how likely it is to see them now, which direction we should look and what we should pay attention to. He was able to give me tips on taking photos. It was a very nice evening and we learned a lot. Steve (February 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
How can you not experience this magical phenomenon without being accompanied by the best local specialist? Enthusiastically recommended by locals, we had the chance to take advantage of their services during an unforgettable evening. He took us to the best place, at the best time, to admire an extraordinary spectacle: an evening rich in the Northern Lights. In addition to the visual spectacle, he was able to offer us clear and captivating explanations which allowed us to better understand what was taking place above our heads. In summary, if you are looking for someone to share their passion and knowledge with you, Adrien is the person you need. Coming from far away (Polynesia) to live this experience as a family with our 11-year-old son, we were won over by his professionalism and exceptional support. Yann (February 2025) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
We had an awesome experience, Adrien used all his experience and hospitality to “hunt” the auroras!! He also made sure this moments were preserved for ever with beautiful professional pictures! The cold weather wasn’t an obstacle to achieve an extraordinary northern lights night! Thanks again !! Andres Gomez (December 2024) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
Adrian had been best. His coordination, and helpfulness for the whole tour were superb. Thanks to his years of experience, we had seen such a great aurora and had one of the best nights of our lives. He took our photos which felt like worth hanging on the wall. Even my family loved those photos a lot that it’s on their phone wallpapers. He took care of everything on the tour day and was helping us in the rest of the days in the Tromso area where we can see NL again and I will recommend him. Deeksha (November 2024) 💚💚💚💚💚 (5/5)
A week ago we went on a Northern Lights tour with our two children with Adrien. Since our children (5+8 years) are still small and stay up late, we wanted a private tour to be flexible. Adrien always took this into account and chose a route for us that wasn't too far away from our current location. The weather in Sweden & Norway was terrible this week, it was constantly raining or completely cloudy. It even snowed on the way to the agreed location and we were a little skeptical as to whether it would work :-) We were always in touch in the days before the tour and postponed the date for a few days because the weather didn't cooperate. Adrien showed great flexibility in this regard and did not stubbornly insist on doing the tour on the agreed day, but rather made it dependent on the weather. We ended up standing in a dark place and waiting for the northern lights. Adrien repeatedly checked the data on his cell phone and was able to tell us pretty accurately when and from which side the lights appeared. And in fact his predictions always came true and we had a very nice and unforgettable night and got great photos of him that he took with his camera. Thank you again Adrien.
